Cilic, Wawrinka reach semifinals at Chennai Open

Jan 8, 2010 - 7:54 PM CHENNAI, India (AP) -- Second-seeded Marin Cilic of Croatia is on course to defend his Chennai Open tennis title after defeating Santiago Giraldo of Columbia 7-6 (3), 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

Third-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka also advanced on Friday, edging seventh-seeded Michael Berrer of Germany 7-6 (5), 6-4 to move into Saturday's semifinals.

Wawrinka will meet fifth-seeded Dudi Sela of Israel, who defeated Lukas Lacko 7-6 (3), 7-5 of Slovakia. Cilic will play fourth-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, a 7-5, 7-5 winner over Thiemo de Bakker of Netherlands.
