Ginepri rolls into quarterfinals at Lyon Tennis Grand Prix

Oct 26, 2006 - 2:11 PM LYON, France (Ticker) - Simon Greul dropped just two games in an upset victory in the first round of the Lyon Tennis Grand Prix. The German barely won that many in the second round.

Greul was routed by American Robby Ginepri, 6-1, 6-2, on Thursday at the $850,000 indoor event.

Greul had stunned second-seeded Argentine Gaston Gaudio, 6-0, 6-2, in the opening round.

Ginepri awaits Xavier Malisse in Friday's quarterfinals after the seventh-seeded Belgian downed Frenchman Julien Benneteau, 6-2, 7-6.

Also in the bottom half of the draw, No. 6 Sebastien Grosjean of France will take on qualifier and countryman Cyril Saulnier. The winner will meet yet another Frenchman, Marc Gicquel.

In another all-French matchup Thursday, Arnaud Clement - who upset top seed Marcos Baghdatis in the first round - meets wild card Michael Llodra. The victor will play eighth-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro on Friday.

Also, fourth-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet takes on Belgian Dick Norman for a shot at fifth-seeded Swede Robin Soderling.
