Sky take down Sun in double overtime

Jun 24, 2011 - 3:15 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Sylvia Fowles scored 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, as the Chicago Sky needed double-overtime to beat the Connecticut Sun, 107-101.

Epiphanny Prince added 25 points and six assists for the Sky, who shot 55.8 percent from the field. Tamera Young tallied 20 points off the bench.

Courtney Vandersloot donated 14 points and 10 assists for Chicago, which got 12 points and 17 rebounds from Michelle Snow.

Renee Montgomery finished with 33 points and six assists for the Sun, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Tina Charles had 22 points and 13 boards.

Down by three, 84-81, Montgomery hit a three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

The first overtime period was tight throughout, and Fowles' jumper with 3.9 ticks to go made it a 92-92 contest.

The Sun scored the first four points of the second overtime, but Chicago tallied the next nine points. Prince scored seven points during the run, which Fowles capped with a layup for a 101-96 lead with 1:35 remaining.

Connecticut never got closer than four the rest of the way.
