Charles leads Sun over Sparks
Aug 3, 2011 - 9:38 PM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Tina Charles dropped 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Connecticut Sun to a 79-70 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Staples Center.Renee Montgomery poured in 16 points and dished out six assists, while Asjha Jones chipped in with 12 points and Tan White added nine points off the bench for the Sun, who have won back-to-back games.
DeLisha Milton-Jones led the Sparks with 14 points in 27 minutes of action, while Tina Thompson and Ebony Hoffman each added 13 points for Los Angeles, which has lost back-to-back contests and drops to 7-12 overall.
Los Angeles held a 40-35 advantage at halftime, but was outscored in each of the final two quarters. Turnovers doomed the Sparks who had 16 to the Sun's 11.
Los Angeles star Candace Parker did not play due to a torn lateral meniscus in her right knee.
