Lynx top Sparks, run win streak to 9
Aug 8, 2011 - 3:13 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Lindsay Whalen scored 24 points and handed out eighth assists to pace the Minnesota Lynx to a franchise-best ninth straight win, an 84-78 triumph over the Los Angeles Sparks.Minnesota rode its starting five in the victory, as Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson chipped in 19 and 18 points, respectively, and Maya Moore scored 10. Taj McWilliams-Franklin finished with eight points for the victors.
Tina Thompson tallied 17 and Ticha Penicheiro came off the bench to pour in 16 in the loss, the Sparks' seventh in their last eight games. DeLisha Milton- Jones donated 18 points.
