Silver Stars blot out Sun
Aug 31, 2011 - 2:53 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Becky Hammon tallied 16 points -- including the 5,000th of her career -- to go with six assists as San Antonio downed Connecticut, 78-66.Jia Perkins and Sophia Young had 15 points apiece for the Silver Stars, who also received 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals from Danielle Robinson.
Tina Charles scored 16 points with seven boards for the Sun. Asjha Jones poured in 15 with a game-best 10 rebounds, and Renee Montgomery added 11 points in the loss, Connecticut's second in a row.
San Antonio had dropped its last six games, but never trailed Tuesday. The Silver Stars' lead grew to 38-28 at the break and as many as 19 points.
