Charles scores 24 as Sun rout Mystics
Sep 4, 2011 - 10:25 PM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Tina Charles scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Connecticut Sun to a 79-48 beatdown of the Washington Mystics at Verizon Center.Asjha Jones netted 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 27 minutes of action, Danielle McCray added 15 points and Kara Lawson chipped in with nine points off the bench for the Sun, winners of two straight.
Monique Currie scored 13 points off the bench and Crystal Langhorne added 10 points for Washington, which has lost 11 of 12.
Connecticut opened up a 21-12 lead after one quarter and didn't look back, leading by as many as 36 points.
Poor shooting killed the Mystics, as they shot 26.9 percent from the field, while the Sun shot 40.8 percent from the floor. Washington also committed 17 turnovers to Connecticut's 11.
