Young lifts Silver Stars over Mystics
Sep 11, 2011 - 3:12 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Sophia Young had 17 points and eight rebounds to lift the San Antonio Silver Stars to an 82-74 win over the Washington Mystics.Becky Hammon, who signed a multi-year contract extension on Saturday, totaled 15 points and 11 assists for the Silver Stars, which will face Minnesota in the opening round of the playoffs and will finish its regular season on Sunday at Tulsa.
Matee Ajavon had 15 points and five assists while Monique Currie added 14 points for the Mystics, who finished their season with a record of 6-28, their worst since their 1998 expansion season when they went 3-27.
Washington lost 13 of 14 to finish its regular season just one year after going 22-12 and tying for the best record in the Eastern Conference.
