Sparks dominate Stars
May 25, 2014 - 9:57 PM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Candace Parker had 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Los Angeles Sparks crushed the San Antonio Stars, 83-62, on Sunday.Kristi Toliver finished with 15 points and Nneka Ogwumike netted 11 points with nine boards in the win.
Jia Perkins scored 17 points off the bench and was the only San Antonio player in double figures.
Los Angeles shot a blistering 35-for-66 from the field and held San Antonio to 28-for-67, including 4-for-17 from beyond the arc.
The Sparks reeled off the first 13 points of the game to take a commanding lead early.
LA led 27-15 after one, but a 13-0 run late in the second quarter by the Stars gave the visitors a 36-35 lead.
The Sparks, however, took a 41-38 lead into the break and a 14-0 run midway through the third opened the game.
Parker scored eight points during the run and Jantel Lavender capped it with a layup to give the hosts a 59-44 advantage.
San Antonio got as close as five early in the fourth, but LA pulled away late to secure the lopsided victory.
