Liberty rally to top Storm
May 28, 2014 - 4:00 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Tina Charles had 15 points and 14 rebounds and the New York Liberty beat the Seattle Storm, 70-64, on Tuesday night.Sugar Rodgers netted 15 points off the bench, while Cappie Pondexter added 12 points and six assists for New York, which moved to 2-2 on the young season.
Sue Bird scored 21 points and Crystal Langhorne posted 13 points and 15 boards for the Storm.
The Liberty trailed 62-54 with 2:55 left before they closed the game on a 16-2 run.
Rodgers hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 64-64 with 1:06 to play and Pondexter nailed a go-ahead jumper with 24.9 ticks to go. Bird missed a jumper at the other end and Plenette Pierson sunk a pair of foul shots to seal the outcome.
Seattle led 35-32 at the break.
