Connecticut took a 24-23 lead into the second after Kelsey Griffin's 3-pointer with 35 seconds left capped the scoring in the opening frame.

The Sun led by five early in the second when the visitors ran off 10 straight, with Mistie Bass and Dupree each providing four points to help the Mercury to a 35-30 lead.
