Jun 27, 2014 - 2:47 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Angel McCoughtry scored 18 points with seven rebounds to help the Atlanta Dream to an 81-79 win over the San Antonio Stars on Thursday.Sancho Lyttle recorded a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Dream, while Tiffany Hayes added 15 points.
No San Antonio starter scored in double figures, with Jia Perkins leading the way off the bench with 17 points. Shameka Christon and Shenise Johnson supplied 14 and 10 points, respectively, in reserve roles.
Atlanta led 65-56 after three quarters of play and built the lead to a game- high 14 points when Shoni Schimmel knocked down a 3-pointer early in the fourth for a 74-60 advantage.
Christon led a furious San Antonio comeback, however, scoring eight straight points to jump-start an 11-0 run that cut the deficit to 77-74 with under a minute left.
McCoughtry hit two free throws to push the margin to five, but Christon knocked down a three with seconds remaining to make it a one-point game at 80-79.
Hayes then split a pair of free throws and the Dream held on.
Atlanta led 26-19 after the first quarter and brought a 45-42 advantage into the locker room at the half.
