Hayes powers Dream over Shock

Aug 1, 2014 - 2:23 AM Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Tiffany Hayes scored 10 of her career-high 27 points in the fourth quarter to pace the Atlanta Dream to an 85-75 victory over the Tulsa Shock.

Erika de Souza tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Dream, who own a 4 1/2 game lead atop the Eastern Conference. Angel McCoughtry had 21 points, but accounted for 11 of her team's 23 turnovers. Those miscues led to 24 Tulsa points.

Atlanta, winners of two in a row after a season-high four-game skid, also received 10 points and nine rebounds from Sancho Lyttle.

Odyssey Sims had 22 points and Skylar Diggins and Glory Johnson each scored 14 for Tulsa, which won its previous two games. The Shock fell 2 1/2 games behind Los Angeles for the final playoff spot in the West.

The Dream shot an effective 55 percent from the field to just 37 percent for the Shock.

Atlanta led 43-39 at halftime, but was up only 62-61 going to the fourth quarter.

A layup from Diggins provided a 67-64 Tulsa edge with 7:34 left, but the Dream answered with 10 consecutive points -- half of them scored by Hayes. The run was capped by McCoughtry's layup with under four minutes remaining.

Tulsa never got closer than five points the rest of the game.
