Sky outlast Fever in 2 OTs, force Game 3 in East finals

Sep 1, 2014 - 11:06 PM Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Sylvia Fowles and the Chicago Sky extended the Eastern Conference finals with a tense 86-84 double overtime victory over the Indiana Fever on Monday.

The Sky lost Game 1 on Saturday and were seconds away from being eliminated before Tamera Young put back an Elena Delle Donne miss with one second left in regulation to tie the game.

Indiana's Briann January back-rimmed a shot at the buzzer and was short on a potential game-winning 20-footer at the end of the first overtime. The Fever also had a chance to close out the series in the second OT, but Shavonte Zellous narrowly missed a 3-pointer as the clock struck zero.

A deciding Game 3 will take place in Indianapolis on Wednesday, with the winner set to play either the Mercury or Lynx in the Finals.

Fowles led Chicago with 27 points, while Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley added 18 and 16 points, respectively, for the victors.

Delle Donne battled back problems and was held to single digits -- nine points -- for just the fourth time all season.

Zellous led five Indiana players in double figures with 20 points. Tamika Catchings and Erlana Larkins both contributed double-doubles and combined for 31 points and 25 rebounds in a losing effort.

Chicago trailed by as many as 14 in the first half but stayed within striking distance heading into the fourth quarter, which featured four lead changes and six ties.
