Mystics win third straight with come-back win over Shock

Jun 30, 2007 - 1:50 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Alana Beard's three-point play capped a 15-2 run and lifted the Washington Mystics to a 65-64 come-from-behind victory over the Detroit Shock.

Beard was able to make a layup with 13 ticks left to tie the game, 64-64, despite being fouled by Shock guard Deanna Nolan. Beard made the free throw and DeLisha Milton-Jones blocked Nolan's 10-foot jumper as the final horn sounded.

Washington finished on a 9-0 run after Detroit failed to score in the final two minutes and 46 seconds.

Milton-Jones scored 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting and Beard added 13 for the Mystic, who have won three straight games and five of their last seven after starting the season 0-8.

Nakia Sanford had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Mystic, which shot 41 percent (24-of-59) from the field.

Nolan scored a season-high 26 points and Swin Cash added 10 and 10 rebounds for the Shock, who shot just 35 percent (26-of-75) and lost their second straight road game.

Detroit entered the fourth quarter with a 52-38 advantage.
