Sanford leads Mystics past Lynx
Jul 11, 2007 - 2:58 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Nakia Sanford scored 25 points and the Washington Mystics bounced back from a fourth-quarter collapse to post a 91-83 overtime victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.Down 43-37 at the half, Washington outscored Minnesota, 32-14, in the third quarter to take a 69-57 lead.
The Lynx rallied in the fourth, outscoring the Mystics 22-10 to force overtime.
Monique Currie hit a pair of free throws and Alana Beard added a layup to open the extra period and give Washington an 83-79 lead with four minutes to play.
After Nicole Ohlde made two free throws to pull the Lynx within 83-81, Sanford and Beard responded with layups to make it 87-81 with 2:37 remaining.
Nikki Teasley, who scored eight points, made four free throws in the final 21 seconds of overtime to seal the win for the Mystics (7-12).
Svetlana Abrosimova scored 20 points and Seimone Augustus added 16 for Minnesota (5-15).
