Jun 5, 2011 - 1:27 AM Uncasville, CT (Sports Network) - Tina Charles posted a game-high 18 points with six rebounds as Connecticut downed Washington, 89-73, in the 2011 season opener for both teams.Renee Montgomery had 15 points while Asjha Jones and Danielle McCray -- who sat out all of last season with a knee injury -- added 14 apiece for the Sun.
New acquisition Crystal Langhorne and Nicky Anosike paced the Mystics with 16 points apiece. Kelly Miller scored 10 in defeat.
Connecticut hit 8-of-16 from beyond the arc and 57.1 percent for the game. The Sun erased an early six-point lead by the visitors and did not trail the rest of the way.
