Liberty defeat Sky in comeback fashion
Jul 10, 2011 - 10:35 PM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Cappie Pondexter and Essence Carson each scored 18 points to lead the New York Liberty to an impressive 80-73 victory over the Chicago Sky.Plenette Pierson had 13 points for the Liberty, while Quanitra Hollingsworth added 11 points and Nicole Powell and Kia Vaughn each finished with 10.
The Sky, who have dropped four consecutive road contests, received 14 points from both Sylvia Fowles and Courtney Vandersloot.
Trailing 60-54 after three quarters, New York outscored Chicago 26-13 over the final 10 minutes of play.
Pondexter spearheaded the effort, tallying 13 points in the final period behind 3-of-4 shooting from the field and a 6-of-6 performance from the charity stripe.
