Sun use late surge to stop Atlanta's win streak
Jul 31, 2011 - 11:39 PM Uncasville, CT (Sports Network) - Renee Montgomery led a balanced attack with 19 points, as the Connecticut Sun used a late surge to cool off the Atlanta Dream, 99-92.Asjha Jones added 17 points for the Sun, who have won five of six. Danielle McCray donated 16 points for Connecticut, which got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Tina Charles.
Angel McCoughtry finished with 36 points off the bench for the Dream, who were trying to tie a franchise record by winning their sixth in a row. Atlanta last won six straight at the start of last season, which resulted in a trip to the franchise's first WNBA finals.
Erika De Souza and Coco Miller tallied 18 points apiece. The former also pulled down nine boards.
Down by one, 89-88, with 1:58 to play, the Sun ended the game on an 11-3 run to claim victory. Jones got the flurry started with a three-point play.
