Silver Stars down Sun
Aug 12, 2011 - 1:50 AM Uncasville, CT (Sports Network) - Becky Hammon poured in 18 points and dished out five assists and Sophia Young netted 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars to a 72-59 victory over the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena.Danielle Robinson and Jia Perkins both chipped in with 12 points for the Silver Stars, who improved to 13-9 on the season.
Asjha Jones paced the Sun with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Tan White added 11 points and Kara Lawson chipped in with 10 points for Connecticut.
Connecticut fell behind 25-12 after one quarter and, despite a strong final quarter, could not recover. Poor shooting also doomed the Sun, as they managed to shoot only 34.9 percent from the field, while San Antonio shot 50 percent.
