Storm cruise past Stars

Jul 12, 2014 - 2:56 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Shekinna Stricklen's 19 points and six rebounds helped Seattle take down San Antonio, 88-67, on Friday night.

Crystal Langhorne totaled 16 points and Sue Bird had 14 points, with Camille Little added 10 for the Storm, who had lost three of four coming in.

Kayla McBride finished 10-for-10 from the free-throw line en route to a team- best 13 points for the Stars, who lost for the second time in their last six. Danielle Robinson and Shenise Johnson contributed 10 each in the setback.

Ahead by one after one quarter, Seattle turned the tide in the second. The Storm tallied the first seven points in the period to go up 27-19, and maintained that solid edge until cruising to the half with a 10-4 run. Bird's triple capped the burst and gave the visitors a 47-35 lead.

Seattle's defense kicked in for the third quarter, limiting San Antonio to eight points and shooting well enough to garner a 19-point edge heading to the fourth.

The Stars could only pull as close as 12 the rest of the way.
