Strong bench play leads Stars past Sky

Jul 30, 2014 - 2:28 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Kayla McBride led five Stars in double figures with 16 points and San Antonio won all four quarters en route to a 92-74 drubbing of the Chicago Sky.

Danielle Adams scored 14 points while Jia Perkins and Sophia Young-Malcolm chipped in with 12, helping the Stars end a two-game slide. Perkins returned to the lineup after missing the previous 11 games with strained right hamstring.

Becky Hammon handed out a game-high eight assists in the victory. San Antonio had lost five of six.

Chicago guard Epiphanny Prince netted 16 of her game-high 23 points in the first quarter. Jamierra Faulkner added 19 points and Sylvia Fowles scored 14.

Prince did all she could to keep the Sky in the game early, hitting 6-for-7 from the floor. The game was knotted at 24 when Shenise Johnson beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer, putting the Stars in front.

San Antonio opened the second on a 9-0 run and built a 15-point lead midway through the period. The spread never dipped below eight the rest of the way.
