Joey Spencer

Spencer vs West FULL FIGHT: August 22, 2020 | PBC on FOX

Top prospect Joey Spencer (11-0, 8 KOs) dropped Shawn West (5-2, 3 KOs) twice on his way to a fourth-round stoppage victory. "I felt great about my performance tonight," said Spencer. "I did everything we had been working on. After the knockdown, I took my time and threw a good flurry. We knew he was tough, so I just stayed calm and took the right shot when it came. I think the experience I've had so far in my career showed through in this fight." Spencer showed a fierce body attack from the outset, hitting West with a big left hook to the body almost immediately in round one, landing 17 total body shots in the first two rounds. Just over a minute into round two, Spencer connected on a straight right hand to hurt West, eventually putting him down with a follow up combination. West was able to make it through the round, showing enough accuracy on the counter attack to keep Spencer from pressing forward wildly. In round four, Spencer again connected with a picturesque right hand...

Ramos vs Spencer HIGHLIGHTS: March 25, 2023 | PBC on Showtime PPV

In the Benavidez vs Plant co-main event, 22-year-old rising star Jesus “Mono” Ramos (20-0, 16 KOs) delivered a dominating performance over a fellow unbeaten young contender, stopping Joey Spencer (16-1, 10 KOs) in the seventh-round of their super welterweight contest. The fight was officially called at 1:25 of round seven when Spencer’s corner indicated to referee Tony Weeks that they were halting the fight. “I felt like I looked real good,” said Ramos. “I showed some angles. After the first round knockdown, I got a little carried away with my power a little bit so I took some time to start working on everything that we practiced in the gym.” Ramos started the fight in spectacular fashion, weathering early pressure from Spencer to land a thunderous short left hook that put Spencer down in round one. Ramos’ power-punching was the key factor in the fight as he outpaced Spencer 147 to 47 in power punches. Spencer stayed game throughout the contest, standing his ground on the insi...

Spencer vs Seldon HIGHLIGHTS: January 30, 2021 - PBC on FOX

Unbeaten super welterweight prospect Joey Spencer continued his fast rise up the ranks with an impressive first-round KO victory over Isiah Seldon (14-4-1, 5 KOs). In a bizarre sequence of events, the 20-year-old Spencer (12-0, 9 KOs) dropped Seldon with a hard right hand. Seldon rose at the count of eight. When action resumed, Seldon unleashed several punches to the back of Spencer’s head, prompting referee Jerry Cantu to deduct two points for the fouls. It didn’t take long for Spencer to bring a conclusion to matters. He landed another right hand that sent Seldon to the canvas again. This time Cantu didn’t bother counting, waving off the fight at 2:15 of the first round. “I just knew that I was going to put hands on him, and that’s how I was going to retaliate. I definitely put in the back of my mind that maybe I’d punish him a little further if I would have gotten a chance. But I didn’t. The ref stopped him, and that’s the way it ended,’’ Spencer said. “My man strength is coming...

Unbeaten super welterweight Joey Spencer (16-0, 10 KOs) earned a career-best 10-round unanimous decision over Kevin Salgado (14-1-1, 9 KOs). "He's a hard-hitting counter puncher, so we wanted to control the distance,” said Spencer. “I feel really strong. I'm really proud of the work that we put into my conditioning and I think it showed in the fight. I'm improving as I get more experience, and that helps me stay more composed in these fights. I'm going to keep adding to my game as I get more comfortable. I'm definitely working towards improving as an offensive fighter.” In his first 10-round fight as a pro, the 22-year-old Spencer turned away what many considered the toughest opponent of his career, riding an 79 to 54 edge in punches landed to victory.
