    Yordenis Ugas took a 2 year absence from the boxing and returned in thunderous fashion. First he dominated the then undefeated Jamal James. Then six-weeks later he returned to ring to face another undefeated prospect, Bryant Perrella. Not only did Ugas drop Perrella in the first round, he went on to win by TKO stoppage from the ref. Ugas returns to the ring against former champ Mario Barrios on the September 30 on Showtime Boxing PPV.

    Unbeaten Radzhab Butaev earned a ninth-round stoppage victory over Jamal “Shango” James to capture the WBA Welterweight Championship Saturday night live on SHOWTIME in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. “This is very important for me,” said Butaev (14-0, 11 KOs). “It’s a big first step. It’s always been my dream to become a world champion. I took the first step today and I’m very happy.” Butaev was able to overcome his rangier opponent with patience and a brutal body attack. While James (27-2, 12 KOs) controlled the initial action with activity, Butaev stalked his opponent and slowly closed down the distance.
