Easter vs Martin FULL FIGHTL February 20, 2021 | PBC on Showtime

(Feb. 20, 2021) Robert Easter Jr. scores a convincing unanimous decision victory over Ryan Martin in their 12-round super lightweight bout on SHOWTIME. UNCASVILLE, Conn. – February 21, 2021 – Former world champion Robert Easter Jr. (23-1-1, 14 KOs) showed his championship pedigree with a dominating unanimous decision victory over Chattanooga, Tenn.’s Ryan Martin (24-2, 14 KOs). The judges scored the fight 117-111 and 118-110 twice. With the win, Easter improves to 5-1-1 in fights that have gone all 12 scheduled rounds, while Martin went 12 rounds for the first time in the losing effort. Easter was sharp from the onset of the fight, using his jab and movement to effectively dictate the pace. The former IBF Lightweight World Champion, fighting for the first time in 16 months, was successful in his second contest at 140 pounds. He showed no signs of ring rust as he landed 82 of 339 jabs and connected on 40 percent of his power punches. While Martin was busier, throwing 90 more p...

Easter Jr. vs Barthelemy FULL FIGHT: April 27, 2019 | PBC on Showtime

(April 27, 2019) Robert Easter Jr. and Rances Barthelemy fought to a split-draw in their matchup for the vacant WBA Lightweight World Title Saturday on SHOWTIME from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The challenging fight to score was ruled 115-113 Barthelemy, 115-113 Easter and 114-114. The WBA 135-pound title remains vacant following the split decision. With both former world champions needing a win in a crossroads affair, neither fighter was able to pull the trigger in a matchup of talented counterpunchers. The tall, rangy lightweights competed on the outside for much of the 12-round bout, and while both relied on their reach to keep their opponent at bay, they failed to land many effective shots from the outside. The switch-hitting Cuban Barthelemy (27-1-1, 14 KOs), who fought defensively for most of the fight, transitioned to mostly southpaw in the third. The former two-division world champion’s most effective punches appeared to be body shots from the so...

Redkach vs Mendez FULL FIGHT: May 2, 2017 - PBC on FS1

(May 2 ,2017) Former world champion #ArgenisMendez outboxed southpaw #IvanRedkach over 10 rounds and earned a split decision. The former world champion ended a two-fight skid with a 10-round split decision over Ivan Redkach in the main event of a PBC on FS1 card in Studio City, California. The difference in the 137-pound bout? A one-point deduction levied by referee Raul Caiz Jr. in Round 3 after Redkach headbutted Mendez, despite the absence of a warning preceding the foul. One judge scored it 95-94 for Redkach, but was overruled by tallies of 96-93 and 95-94 for Mendez, who was fighting for the first time in 2017 on the heels of consecutive losses. Both men were desperate for a victory and fought like it, but Redkach walked into a lot of straight rights against a more patient boxer. Certainly, each man badly needed a jump-start to their once promising careers. Redkach entered the bout on the heels of two lopsided defeats—a stoppage by Dejan Zlaticanin and a wide unanimous dec...

Garcia vs Easter FULL FIGHT: July 28, 2018 - PBC on Showtime

(July 28, 2018) Mikey Garcia became the 10th lightweight champion to unify the division with a unanimous decision against Robert Easter Jr. Saturday on SHOWTIME, and immediately afterward set his sights on boxing's best, namely Errol Spence Jr. All three judges scored the fight in favor of Garcia,118-109, 117-110, 116-111, in an electrifying fight in front of 12,560 fans at STAPLES Center in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions. The four-division world champion Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs) - who was fighting in his native Southern California for the first time in seven years - keeps his 135-pound WBC title and also claims Easter's IBF Lightweight belt "I'm here for the biggest challenges," said Garcia, 30, who unified a title for the first time in his career. "I don't know if there is anyone that is a bigger challenge than Errol Spence. I know he's up to fight everyone so let's make it happen. I think it can be made. I think that's the next big fight coming up. "I feel I h...

Easter vs Commey FULL FIGHT: September 9, 2016 - PBC on Spike

(September 9, 2016) In front of a raucous and supportive crowd, undefeated rising star Robert Easter (18-0, 14 KOs) earned a narrow split-decision victory over previously unbeaten Richard Commey (24-1, 22 KOs) in a thrilling contest that saw both men grab momentum at different points throughout the 12-round bout. Easter used his jab and length advantage in round one and appeared to have more success throughout the night when he fought from a distance. The fight vacillated between a tactical battle and a toe-to-toe war by the round and even by the minute. The Ghanaian Commey was aggressive throughout the fight and had success pushing Easter to the ropes and catching him with big right hands. In round eight, Commey scored a knockdown on one of those right hands, as referee Benjy Esteves ruled that Easter’s glove hit the canvas as a result of the punch. Easter and Commey both came out firing in round nine, engaging in one of the many exchanges that put the lively crowd on its feet. ...

Easter Jr vs Shafikov FULL FIGHT: June 30, 2017 - PBC on Spike

(June 30, 2017) Robert Easter Jr. hoped to be the first boxer to stop Denis Shafikov in his second title defense. Instead, the 135-pound champion had to grind it out over 12 rounds against the toughest opponent of his career to remain unbeaten. Defending his world title in his hometown for the second straight time, Easter probably didn’t use his significant length advantage as much as he should have, but he was still able to land the better shots throughout the fight and earn a hard-fought unanimous decision over the relentless Shafikov. Easter landed thunderous power shots from the outside early in the fight, but Shafikov made it clear that he was not going to be deterred. The 5-foot-5 southpaw continually pressed forward against the 5-foot-11 champion, often fighting with his forehead planted firmly in Easter’s left shoulder. With Shafikov bringing the action inside, Easter abandoned his jab for a few rounds, turning it into the kind of fight that the Russian was looking for. ...

Easter Jr vs Mendez FULL FIGHT: April 1, 2016 - PBC on Spike

Unbeaten Robert Easter Jr. (17-0, 14 KO) showed why he’s a rising star with a devastating KO at 2:43 in the 5th round over former world champion Algenis Mendez (23-4-1, 12 KOs) in a lightweight fight that finished with the crowd on their feet at the DC Armory on April 1, 2016. Easter, who took a big step up in competition facing Mendez, showed the patience of a season veteran in the early rounds against Mendez who represented the Dominican Republic in the 2004 Olympics and now fights out of Brooklyn. It didn’t take Easter long to get comfortable and pick up his pace in the third and fourth rounds, with an array of body shots and uppercuts, that found their mark against the game Mendez. Easter closed the show when he knocked down Mendez with a devastating one punch knock-out via a stiff right hand. Mendez got up from the knocked down but was unable to continue, forcing the referee to stop the contest. "My performance was okay. I could have done better, but I'm happy. I got touched ...

Easter vs Granados FULL FIGHT: October 26, 2019 - PBC on Showtime

Robert Easter Jr. starts at 140 with a successful debut by defeating Adrian Granados by UD. It was a war from the opening bell. However, former world lightweight champion Robert Easter Jr. controlled the action for the most part, winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Adrian Granados in his super lightweight debut. Early in the first, it appeared Easter (22-1-1, 14 KOs) would cruise. Granados, for his part, worked in burrowing forward. The ploy was met with some punishing jabs and trying to establish distance. But in the last minute of the first, Easter reverted back to his old habits, allowing the shorter fighter to get inside. With 2:00 left in the second, Granados (20-8-2, 13 KOs) was able to get inside and nail Easter with a right uppercut. It seemed to work—and the inside fighting fed right into the game plan of Granados. With :50 left in the third, the two stood toe-to-toe in the center of the ring and literally whaled on each other. Easter appeared to get the better o...
