Cal Freshman QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele: Proving His Place

Cal true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele won the qb competition against Ohio State transfer Devin Brown and hasn't looked back. Sagapolutele began the season with a 3-touchdown performance against Oregon State, leading the Golden Bears to a 34-15 victory and then bounced back from a rocky start against Texas Southern to finish with a career-high 267 passing yards, his first career rushing touchdown and another Bears win. He's the 2nd true freshman quarterback to start a season opener since Jared Goff in 2013 and the first true freshman to win a season opener in program history.
