LA AVENGERS 51, KANSAS CITY 48 ------------------------------
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Timon Marshall scored on a 3-yard run with 34 seconds to play, lifting the Los Angeles Avengers to a 51-48 victory over the Kansas City Brigade.
Sonny Cumbie threw for four touchdowns and 270 yards for Los Angeles, which twice had to rally from 11 points down. Marshall also had eight catches for 96 yards and a receiving touchdown for the Avengers (5-10).
Kansas City (3-12) had taken its final lead at 48-43 on Quincy Carter's 14-yard scoring pass to Mike Horacek with 7:01 left in the game.
Carter, a former starter with the Dallas Cowboys, finished 21-of-34 for 223 yards, four touchdown passes and one interception. He also ran for a touchdown.
DALLAS 51, NY DRAGONS 49 ------------------------
DALLAS (Ticker) -- Clint Dolezel threw for five touchdown passes and ran for another, guiding the Dallas Desperados to a 51-49 victory over the New York Dragons.
Andrae Thurman caught eight passes for 88 yards, including three scoring passes, for Dallas (12-3), which built a 16-point third-quarter lead and withstood a late comeback by the Dragons (8-7).
Josh Hamilton also had a 56-yard kickoff return to open the second half that boosted the Desperados' lead to 38-14.
Aaron Garcia threw four of his five scoring passes in the second half for New York, which pulled to within 44-42 before Dolezel and Thurman hooked up on their final touchdown of the game.
GRAND RAPIDS 63, COLUMBUS 60 ----------------------------
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- James MacPherson tossed five touchdown passes to guide the Grand Rapids Rampage to a 63-60 victory over the Columbus Destroyers.
MacPherson completed 22-of-30 passes for 296 yards for the Rampage (5-10).
Cole Magner had a team-high nine catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns and Kenny Higgins had seven catches for 96 yards and a score for Grand Rapids.
Matt Nagy completed 24-of-38 passes for 341 yards and five scores for the Destroyers (3-12).
GEORGIA 50, CHICAGO 47 ----------------------
DULUTH, Georgia (Ticker) -- Chris Greisen tossed six touchdown passes and rushed for the eventual game-winning score as the Georgia Force claimed the Southern Division title with a 50-47 triumph over the Chicago Rush.
Greisen completed 24-of-39 passes for 263 yards and rushed in from 14 yards out to give Georgia a 48-41 advantage with 5:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Carl Morris had eight catches for 103 yards and four touchdowns for the Force (10-5).
Russ Michna threw five touchdown passes and ran for a score and Donovan Morgan had a team-high 13 catches for 127 yards and three TDs for the Rush (10-5).
PHILADELPHIA 62, CLEVELAND 61 -----------------------------
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Eddie Moten intercepted a two-point conversion pass in the end zone with five seconds to play, preserving the Philadelphia Soul's 62-61 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators.
Otis Amey caught his fourth scoring pass of the night, a 9-yard toss from Raymond Philyaw, to pull Cleveland (8-7) within 62-61. The Gladiators then eschewed the extra point and the tie, but Moten made a leaping catch to end the game.
Matt D'Orazio threw for 283 yards and six touchdown passes, including a 15-yard strike to Chris Jackson with 37 seconds to play that gave the Soul (12-3) a 62-55 lead.
Philyaw finished 26-of-38 for 319 yards while Amey hauled in nine catches for 91 yards. Neither quarterback had an interception until Philyaw was picked off on the final conversion attempt.
SAN JOSE 73, TAMPA BAY 70 -------------------------
SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - Mark Greib tossed nine touchdown passes to power the San Jose SaberCats to a 73-70 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm.
Grieb completed 26-of-38 passes for 274 yards and Cleannord Saintil had a team-high 12 catches for 107 yards and four scores for San Jose (10-5).
Brett Dietz completed 25-of-43 passes for 309 yards and 10 touchdowns for Tampa Bay (7-8).
Lawrence Samuels caught 11 passes for 94 yards and three scores for the Storm.
