AHL announces Hall of Fame inductees

Nov 29, 2007 - 8:33 PM SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- The American Hockey League announced Thursday that Noel Price, Tim Tookey and the late Steve Kraftcheck will be inducted into the league's Hall of Fame.

"The AHL Board of Governors has unanimously and enthusiastically endorsed the selection committee's recommendation to induct these three American Hockey League legends into our Hall of Fame," AHL President and CEO David Andrews said.

Price was a reliable defenseman for four Calder Cup champions during an AHL career that saw him play for five teams over a 20-year span.

Tookey was a gifted scorer and one of the top point producers in the history of the league. He retired after the 1995 playoffs as the fourth-leading scorer in AHL history with 974 points.

Kraftcheck was known as a smart and steady blue-liner during his career. He joined the league in 1949 and embarked on an AHL career that would see him become a perennial All-Star. He died in 1997 at the age of 68.

The induction ceremony will take place as part of the AHL All-Star Classic Luncheon on January 28.
