North axe Hansen after 11 AFL seasons
Aug 29, 2017 - 5:56 AM North Melbourne have begun their post-season list cull, the club advising Lachie Hansen on Tuesday that he won't be offered a new AFL deal.Hansen, the No.3 pick at the 2006 draft, played 151 games in 11 seasons at Arden Street, but the 29-year-old was hampered by hip injuries and concussion issues last year.
"Lachie has been a delight to coach and has been one of the most dynamic, versatile players in the league," coach Brad Scott said.
"His ability to play forward or back for us was a tremendous asset to the team.
"He'll be sorely missed around the club and was one of those unique characters.
"His ability to keep morale up during this year in particular was first-class and I wish him all the best for whatever comes next for him and his family."
The Kangaroos endured a tough season, finishing 15th, and are looking to give more games to developing talls next year.
