Eskimos release FB Bertrand
Mar 1, 2013 - 8:59 PM Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Eskimos have released non-import fullback Mathieu Bertrand.Bertrand spent nine seasons with the Eskimos and racked up 119 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 51 carries, while adding 116 receptions for 912 yards and three scores through the air.
"Mathieu is an outstanding player who had a stellar career with the team," Edmonton head coach Kavis Reed said. "He personifies what we mean when we say the Eskimo Way. We wish him the very best in future."
Bertrand was named a CFLPA All-Star in 2008 and 2009 and received the 2012 David Boone Award for his outstanding community involvement.
