Eskimos QB Nichols to miss season
Jun 18, 2013 - 4:08 PM Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Matt Nichols will miss the entire 2013 season after suffering a torn ACL during last Friday's preseason game against Saskatchewan.Nichols, who is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery later this week, had been competing for the starting job with Mike Reilly.
The Eastern Washington product started two games for the Eskimos last season and saw action under center in six others. He completed 57.8 percent of his passes for 884 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions.
Nichols' injury could put 39-year-old veteran Kerry Joseph back in the mix. He was expected to serve as a mentor for Nichols and Reilly this season.
