Eskimos trade QB LeFors to Blue Bombers
Jan 21, 2009 - 8:25 PM WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Ticker) -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added another quarterback to their roster Wednesday, acquiring Stefan LeFors from the Edmonton Eskimos for a pair of 2009 draft picks.LeFors, 27, spent the last two seasons as Ricky Ray's backup with the Eskimos. The former Louisville star started the final five games in 2007 when Ray was injured, passing for 1,193 yards and six touchdowns.
LeFors, who played under center in just one game this past season, likely will battle for a backup job behind Kevin Glenn with the Blue Bombers, who sent second-round and conditional selections to Edmonton.
"I'm very excited about Stefan joining our organization," new Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly said. "I spent last year in Edmonton with him and witnessed how he handles himself as a professional.
"The first two qualities I look for in a quarterback are intelligence and toughness. Stefan possesses both of those without any reservations. He's proven he's a winner and we're excited to welcome him to the club."
