Lions sign D-lineman Mitchell
Jan 26, 2009 - 8:31 PM VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The British Columbia Lions on Monday signed defensive lineman Kyle Mitchell.Terms were not disclosed.
Mitchell, originally signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2006 and played two seasons with the Rough Riders, registering 10 tackles as well as a fumble recovery in four games.
Prior to signing with Saskatchewan, Mitchell spent four years at Indiana State, starting 11 games as a senior and notching 57 tackles.
"Kyle is a quick and athletic player who we expect to compete for the rush-end position in training camp," Lions general manager and head coach Wally Buono said.
"Roy Shivers (Lions director of player personnel) has had him on his radar since bringing him into Saskatchewan a few years ago and we believe he has a lot of potential."
