Lions sign QB Jackson to extension
Jan 31, 2009 - 12:24 AM VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The B.C. Lions and quarterback Jarious Jackson agreed to a contract extension on Friday.Terms were not disclosed.
Jackson threw for 2,164 yards and 17 touchdowns last season while adding 362 rushing yards and a pair of scores on the ground.
"Jarious has been effective in his role with the Lions, and we expect him to be a contributor in the 2009 season," Lions general manager Wally Buono said. "I believe this extension further strengthens the quarterback position."
The 2009 campaign will be the fifth with the Lions for the former Notre Dame signal-caller, who was signed as a free agent prior to the 2005 season.
"I have truly enjoyed my time here as a Lion and I have made B.C. my home, so I'm pleased to get this contract done and I'm looking forward to helping the team win another championship," said Jackson, who was a member of the Lions' Grey Cup championship team in 2006.
