Eskimos re-sign DL Romero to two-year deal
Feb 10, 2009 - 8:44 PM EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Eskimos on Tuesday signed All-Star defensive lineman Dario Romero to a two-year extension that keeps him under contract through the 2011 season.The Eastern Washington product is coming off the best season of his eight-year professional career as he recorded 30 tackles - including six sacks - with a fumble recovery and forced fumble.
Romero spent his rookie campaign with Edmonton in 2001, then played four seasons with the NFL's Miami Dolphins. He returned to the CFL in 2006 and played two years with Montreal before signing back with Edmonton in 2008.
"Dario is one of those players you want on your side when go into battle," Eskimos general manager Danny Maciocia said. "He's intense and that carries over to the rest of the D-line."
