Lions re-sign All-Star T Jimenez
Feb 11, 2009 - 5:53 AM VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The B.C. Lions re-signed All-Star right tackle Jason Jimenez, the team announced Tuesday.Terms were not disclosed.
"Jason is a big part of our offense, and I am very pleased to have him back with us," Lions general manager Wally Buono said.
The 28-year-old Jimenez will begin his fourth season with the Lions in 2009 after originally signing as a free agent prior to the 2006 campaign. A native of Queens, New York, Jimenez has played in 54 regular-season games and was selected as a West Division and CFL All-Star last year.
"For the past three years, my family and I have made Vancouver our home," Jimenez said. "I am excited to stay in B.C., and even more so to continue playing for the Lions. I'm looking forward to another great season."
The 6-7, 316-pounder turned down a tryout with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers to stay with the Lions, according to a report by the Vancouver Sun on Sunday.
