Williamson equals Kiwi Test ton record

Mar 27, 2017 - 4:10 AM New Zealand cricket captain Kane Williamson has equalled Martin Crowe's 22-year record of 17 Test centuries for New Zealand.

Williamson notched his ton off 150 balls in the side's Test decider against South Africa in Hamilton on Monday, hitting 10 boundaries and two sixes in a clinical display.

Shots on the leg side were favoured by the 26-year-old, where he hit three boundaries and a six, while he also cleared the ropes at long on.

It was his second century of the Test series, having hit 130 against the Proteas in the first drawn Test in Dunedin two weeks ago.

The legendary Crowe, considered one of the best Kiwi batsmen of all time, smacked 17 Test centuries between 1982 and 1995, with a high score of 299.

New Zealand were 1-237 after Williamson brought up triple figures, with partner Jeet Raval standing strong on 83.
