Reds add Badenhop, Gregg

Feb 7, 2015 - 8:29 PM Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cincinnati Reds added a pair of veteran right-handed pitchers on Saturday, agreeing to deals with Burke Badenhop and Kevin Gregg.

Badenhop, who turns 32 on Sunday, will earn $1 million in 2015, and his contract includes a $4 million mutual option for 2016. Gregg signed a minor- league contract with an invitation to spring training.

In 70 2/3 innings with the Boston Red Sox last year, Badenhop owned a career- best 2.29 ERA. Known for inducing ground-ball outs, he has a 3.71 career ERA in 446 innings with the Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays and Marlins.

Gregg, 36, pitched just nine innings for the Marlins in 2014 and allowed 10 earned runs. In 12 big-league seasons with the Angels, Blue Jays, Orioles and two stints with both the Marlins and Cubs, Gregg has 177 saves.

To make room for Badenhop on the 40-man roster, the Reds designated minor- league left-handed pitcher Ismael Guillon for assignment.
