Catania upsets Inter Milan 3-1

CATANIA, Sicily(AP) -- Maxi Lopez, Giuseppe Mascara and Jorge Martinez scored as Catania rallied for a 3-1 win over first-place Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A on Friday night.

Diego Milito put Inter ahead off a pass from Samuel Eto'o in the 54th minute, but Lopez tied the score in the 74th and Marcara chipped over goalkeeper Julio Cesar to convert a penalty kick in the 81st after Inter's Sulley Muntari was ejected for a hand ball. Martinez got the final goal in the 90th.

Seeking its fifth straight league title, Inter (17-3-8) leads with 59 points, four more than second-place AC Milan (16-4-7), which hosts 11th-place Chievo Verona (10-12-5) on Sunday.

Catania (7-11-10) is 15th with 31 points, eight above the relegation zone.

GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) - Schalke moved into first place in the Bundesliga, beating Stuttgart 2-1 as Kevin Kuranyi scored the tiebreaking goal in the 55th minute.

Edu put Schalke ahead in the 46th minute, but Serdar Tasci tied the score in the 50th minute. With his 14th league goal, Kuranyi tied Bayer Leverkusen's Stephan Kiessling for the Bundesliga lead.

Schalke (16-4-6) has 54 points, one more than Bayern Munich (15-2-8), which hosts Freiburg on Saturday. Stuttgart (9-8-8) is seventh with 35 points.
