US loses to Samoa 38-10 in 1st IRB sevens final
Mar 21, 2010 - 12:38 PM ADELAIDE, Australia(AP) -- The United States has lost 38-10 to Samoa in the championship of an International Rugby Board sevens tournament in the Americans' first finals appearance in the seven-a-side series.Somoa won its second consecutive IRB tournament Sunday, at the Adelaide Oval in Australia.
Samoa won the Las Vegas tournament on Feb. 14 and picked up another 24 points for beating the U.S. The Samoans beat tournament leader New Zealand in the quarterfinals earlier Sunday.
New Zealand has 96 points after five tournaments to lead Samoa by 2 points.
The United States defeated Argentina 28-12 in the semifinals, while Samoa ousted Australia 26-12.
