Molinaro earns first Symetra title
May 20, 2013 - 1:15 AM Asheville, NC (Sports Network) - Giulia Molinaro fired a 7-under 65 in the final round to win the Friends of Mission Charity Classic.Molinaro ended her first Symetra Tour title at 13-under-par 203.
The Italian birdied the first two holes on Sunday, then tripped to a bogey on No. 3. She later poured in six birdies over an 8-hole span from the seventh to 14th to jump to minus-13.
Molinaro traded a bogey for a birdie from the 16th, then parred the last to seal the win.
Macarena Silva closed with a 67 to take second place at minus-8. Jaclyn Sweeney, who is No. 2 on the tour's money list, shot 70 and finished alongside Angela Buzminski (70) in third at 7-under 209. Courtney Massey (71) and Tracy Stanford (71) shared fifth at minus-6.
