Busy day ahead at Schwab Championship
Nov 2, 2008 - 4:50 PM SONOMA, California (Ticker) -- Andy Bean remains atop the leaderboard at the rain-soaked Charles Schwab Championship.Bean got in four holes in his third round Saturday at the $2.5 million event before play was halted due to showers. He recorded four pars and has a two-stroke lead at 10-under-par.
The third round is scheduled to resume Sunday at 12:30 p.m. EST, with the final round to follow immediately.
Bean, whose only win this season came at the Regions Charity Classic in May, will have a two-stroke lead over John Cook when play resumes.
Cook was 2-under through six before the rains came and is at 8-under for the tournament.
The Schwab Cup will be decided at the end of this event but, with just 796 points, Bean has no shot at overtaking leader Jay Haas (2,556). The winner here is awarded 844 points.
Haas, who holds a 12-point lead over Fred Funk in the Schwab Cup standings, is 4-over through eight and in a tie for 14th at 2-under.
First prize is $440,000.
