Palace Malice possible for Belmont Stakes
May 16, 2013 - 9:26 PM Elmont, NY (Sports Network) - Palace Malice, the colt who set the blazing Kentucky Derby pace, is stabled at trainer Todd Pletcher's Belmont Park barn with future races undecided.Owned by Dogwood Stable, Palace Malice finished 12th in the 139th Run for the Roses on May 4 and is now waiting for his connections to come up with a plan. The 3-year-old will have a workout Sunday at Belmont.
"Our colt is galloping with great energy, is sound and is eating well," said Dogwood's Cot Campbell. "After his work we'll have a pretty accurate picture of where we are with him. Early next week the Preakness aftermath will have crystallized and we'll know what the outlook is there. Palace Malice's work and the results of the Preakness will help us solidify our plans for the future, and they may include the Belmont Stakes."
Palace Malice has one win in seven lifetime starts for $271,135. He was second in the Blue Grass Stakes, third in the Risen Star Stakes and seventh in the Louisiana Derby.
