Veterans put in solid workouts

NY (Sports Network) - A quartet of stakes winning thoroughbreds posted Tuesday morning workouts ahead of possible starts Memorial Day in the Met Mile at Belmont Park.Flat Out, two-time winner of the Jockey Club Gold Cup, went four-furlongs at Saratoga in 48.27 seconds. The 7-year-old is owned by Preston Stables and trained by Bill Mott. Last month he won the Westchester Handicap at Belmont.
Working out on Belmont Park's main track were Handsome Mike and Hymn Book.
Trained by Doug O'Neill, Handsome Mike went the half-mile in 47.89 seconds with trainer Shug McGaughey's Hymn Book going in 49.67 seconds. Owned by Paul Reddam, Handsome Mike won this year's Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland and Hymn Book, owned by Stuart Janney III, was third in the Alysheba this month at Churchill Downs.
On Belmont's training track, Rattlesnake Bridge worked four-furlongs in 48.46 seconds. The 5-year-old, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin for Mill House, is coming off a third-place finish last month in the Westchester.
Post positions for the Met Mile will be drawn on Friday.
