Captaintreacherous favored in North America Cup

Jun 11, 2013 - 6:03 PM Campbellville, ON (Sports Network) - Champion pacer Captaintreacherous is the favorite to win this Saturday's 30th edition of the $1 million North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack.

Captaintreacherous, with Tim Tetrick driving, will start from post 4 and has been made the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the 10-horse field.

The 2012 champion 2-year-old male pacer and Pacer of the Year, won his elimination pace last Saturday by a half-length in career best time of 1:48 4/5.

"He's bigger and stronger than last year," noted Tetrick, "and I'm very happy with his comeback. He's a great horse. I've been looking forward to this horse all winter long."

Owned by Captaintreacherous Racing and trained by Tony Alagna, the colt opened 2013 by winning a Pennsylvania Sires Stake race at Pocono Downs on May 19.

His 2012 season was highlighted by wins in the Metro Pace and Woodrow Wilson.

The 3-year-old has earned $967,570 with 10 wins in 12 career starts.

The other elimination winners, Vegas Vacation and Fool Me Once, will start from posts 2 and 3, respectively.
