Bartlett injured in accident at Yonkers

Jun 14, 2008 - 3:21 AM YONKERS, New York (Ticker) -- Driver Jason Bartlett suffered a right leg injury in an accident in the second race at Yonkers Raceway on Friday night.

Driving Hurricane Mike, Bartlett was thrown from his seat when his sulky broke near the quarter-mile pole. While on the track, he was run over by the trailing horses and sulkies.

Bartlett was taken to Lawrence Hospital in nearby Bronxville for tests, which revealed no broken bones but a possible hematoma, and further evaluation. It was unknown whether Bartlett would remain hospitalized overnight and no timetable has been given for his return to action.

The 27-year-old Bartlett, who won Friday's first race while driving Your Not Funny, posted his 2,000th career victory earlier this season. Overall this year, he has won 241 races and more than $2 million in purses, with 178 triumphs and over $1.6 million in winnings coming at Yonkers.
