Pirates sign 3 Taiwan high school players
Jul 2, 2009 - 7:10 PM PITTSBURGH(AP) -- The Pirates have signed three teenage Taiwan high school players on the first day of the international free agent signing period.Signed on Thursday were a pair of 18-year-olds from Hsi Yuan High School, outfielder Ping-Hung Chi and right-hander Sheng-Cin Hong, and 17-year-old first baseman Chih-Wei Hsu, who also pitched at Kuang Fu High School.
All three players will begin their professional careers at the Australia Baseball Academy.
