Padres outright 4 to Triple-A Portland
Oct 13, 2009 - 6:30 PM SAN DIEGO(AP) -- The Padres have outrighted right-hander Josh Geer, outfielder Drew Macias, infielder Luis Rodriguez and catcher Eliezer Alfonzo to Triple-A Portland.Rodriguez and Alfonzo elected to become free agents.
Geer made 17 starts among his 19 appearances, going 1-7 with a 5.96 ERA. Macias hit .197 (15-for-76) in 51 games for the Padres, with one home run and seven RBIs.
Rodriguez played in 93 games for the Padres in his second year in San Diego, hitting .202 (42-for-208) with two home runs. Alfonzo began the season at Portland and appeared in 37 games for San Diego, hitting .175 (20-for-114) with two home runs and eight RBIs.
