Hanley Ramirez misses game with tight groin

Mar 15, 2010 - 10:00 PM JUPITER, Fla.(AP) -- Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez was scratched from Monday's exhibition game against Minnesota because of a tight groin but said he expects to play Tuesday.

Ramirez told the team he felt a little sore running the bases during batting practice. He had treatment during the game, then said the problem was "nothing."

Donnie Murphy replaced Ramirez in the lineup and hit eighth.

Ramirez is the third Marlins player to deal with a groin issue this spring training, joining outfielders Cameron Maybin and Cody Ross.

Florida hopes Maybin returns by this weekend. He was injured March 7 and planned to test the leg Tuesday by running the bases.

Ross returned to the lineup Monday after playing in just two games because of a thumb injury and a strained groin.
