LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Jason Schmidt's home debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers ended in disappointing fashion.

Schmidt left Monday's contest against the Colorado Rockies after suffering an injury to his right hamstring in the fifth inning.

Making his first home start as a member of the Dodgers, Schmidt sustained the injury while attempting to cover first base on Kaz Matsui's grounder with no outs in the top of the fifth. The righthander arrived at the base slightly after Matsui and immediately grimaced while clutching his right hamstring.

After a brief delay, Schmidt left the contest with a pair of Dodgers trainers. He was replaced by lefthander Mark Hendrickson.

Schmidt, 34, signed a three-year, $47 million contract with Los Angeles in December. He was solid in his Dodgers debut, working five innings to record the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory at Milwaukee. However, he struggled before leaving Monday's contest, yielding four runs - three earned - in four-plus innings.

A three-time All-Star, Schmidt owns a career record of 128-90 in parts of 13 seasons with Los Angeles, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and Atlanta.
